Infections of teeth and gingiva which may go unnoticed for a long time may cause major damage in bone and soft tissue in time. As a result of this destruction, large lesions, cysts may develop in soft or hard tissues. In these cases, defect and cysts which develop in jaw bone are removed surgically. Also, various tumors and cysts may spread in cases which are not in a doctor’s control and affect more tissues, making it a necessity to have a surgical treatment. Pathological surgery is usually applied under local anesthesia but in cases with very wide area of surgery may require general anesthesia.
In these cases, periodic check-ups are important for early diagnosis and treatment. In patients who have their 6 months of periodic controls, early diagnosis becomes possible and the chance of treatment success increases. In pathological surgery cases, if tissue damage is too much, prostheses and apparatus that may prevent functional loss can be applied, which are made of tissue-friendly materials and applied with various techniques.
