Dislocation of the Jaw
Dislocation of jaw, subluxation in Latin, is the mobility of the joint forwards at the end of opening the mouth. Dislocation of jaw may occur when there is no problem as well. It can be bilateral or monolateral. The determining feature is the inability to close the mouth and sound of joint. There is a sharp pain in dislocation of jaw which comes with the end of the act after motion. This pain which begins in the ears and their surroundings spread towards the jaw and head. The cause of pain is the pressure applied by jaw joint onto the capsule wall. Another determining point in dislocation is the powerful sound in blasting type. Dislocation may be bilateral or monolateral. Clear asymmetry in lower face may be seen in bilateral dislocation of jaw. What you should do in case of dislocation of jaw is to consult a dentist emergently and avoid the jaw movements that would force the joint. Avoid sudden movements until visiting a doctor and do not try to push it back yourselves.
